Mirei Yamada, born in Tottori, Japan, has been living in Italy since 2001.
She is a founding member of the Quartetto Avos and of the Avos Project – International School of Music. Since October 2025, she has been the first violin of the Quartetto Prometeo.

With the Quartetto Avos, founded in 2007, she was awarded the “Premio Vittorio Gui” in Florence and the “Premio Trio di Trieste”, also receiving the Audience Prize and the “Amedeo Baldovino” Prize for the best performance of a work by J. Brahms. In 2010, the Quartet was also granted the “Diploma d’Onore” by the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.

She graduated in violin from the Toho Gakuen University of Music in Tokyo, and later refined her artistry under the guidance of distinguished masters such as Giovanni Guglielmo, Felix Ayo, Chaim Taub, Alfonso Ghedin, and Rocco Filippini, as well as with the Trio di Trieste and the Alban Berg Quartet. She continued her studies at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.

She has performed in prestigious venues such as the Parco della Musica in Rome, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Grand Theatre in Shanghai, and the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, collaborating with renowned orchestras and musicians from around the world.

She has recorded for RAI, Azzurra Music, Brilliant Classics, and Nami Records.
She is the founder and first violin of the Tottori Chamber Orchestra (Japan).
